Hey Rodney.  I felt the same way, but found a way to activate the timer on the 14sg by "position" of the collective stick.  Are you aware of this?  Its not necessarily a percentage, but a position marker to tell the TX when to stop and start.  I find it works pretty darn close as my old DX8.  Let me know and I'll help guide you through it.

Yeah, not being able to start/stop the timer by throttle percentage sucks.  That was, seriously, the ONLY thing that I feel was a step backwards from my DX8 when I switched.  So, I just start/stop mine with throttle hold and reset it with SH.

The TH actually works okay for the nitro helis and I've gone to a mah meter instead of timer on electric.  Thanks, though!
