Gov setup and testing video is processing now. I Filmed my final electronics placement, wiring, and filmed how I went about building my main rotor head links. I don't like how the video turned out. I was off camera for most of it.  I will be redoing that part of the video tonight as well as filming the tail install and final thoughts. So when the Gov video posts later today and you notice "hey where is part 6? He skipped something" you will know why :) The Gov programming and testing is not E5 specific so I put that in a separate video entirely.

Thanks for following along! I hope this series helps answer questions!

I am getting enough requests for details on tools I use, recommend, and how to prep for a build that I will probably do a short video on prep and my tools. I am not sure though. So much of tool selection is subjective. If I do a tools video, it will be under a different topic, probably in the Setup Help forum.

Part 6 and 7 videos are up. I am missing some footage where I talk about building the servo to swash links, not sure.  I am planning a "tools and prep" video. I will make sure I talk about the "Boto sizer" and correct link adjustments in that one.

All that is left now is to put the boom on, setup the tail and go fly! I hope to have this bird in the air tomorrow :)

Thanks for following along.

The final build video in the series is posted!

This has been a FUN build video to do. I have done a few of these in the past, but never have I had this much real time feedback and requests for more detail. Thank you guys for making this so much fun for me! I hope these videos help answer some questions without leaving many more.

There were a few topics that didn't make the cut.

1. Checking the frame for square:
This step is to be completed AFTER you assemble the entire main frame, but before you mount the skids and the boom.  Set the heli frame on a level surface. Take a small carpenters or machinist square and check to be sure the sides of the main frame are "square" or perpendicular to the table.  Make sure you check both sides of the frame. If the frame was tightened up off square, not only will some of the parts not line up correctly, the geometry of the servos, main bearings, and control rods will be compromised.

2. Proper link building and the use of a ball link sizer like the "Boto Sizer".
This didn't make the video because I quite frankly can't find mine :( I think I loaned it to my friend when he did his E7 build, I need to get it back.  Rest assured I will get mine back or order another and clean the links up on the E6 as soon as possible. It is totally flyable as it sets, but I did notice a little friction on the pitch and swash links. Sizing the ball links is important. I do talk about why on the video.

3. I was asked to talk about Castle ESC Governor Set RPM mode:
This heli does not have a Castle on it, but I will be shooting a video over the holiday break about the Castle ESC setup using my ICE2 160HV from my 750.

4. Tools and Preparing for the build:
There have been a few threads of late asking about what ideal tools to have, and those are all very good threads. I didn't feel the need to shoot video of my tools because what tools you use are subjective. There are a few tricks to properly preparing for a build, IE cleaning the machine oil off bolts, completely dis-assembly all pre-assembled parts, ETC. I touched on a few of these in my series, but for the sake of time, I didn't go into all of them.  I am considering filming a Tips on Prep video, we shall see how much feedback I get on the need.  There are SO many video resources out there. Finless Bob has done hundreds of heli build and setup videos. If you can't find something that answers your questions, please let me know. I will help were I can. I am not an expert by any means, but if I don't know the answer, I will help you find it!

Thanks again folks, the Synergy Family is growing fast, and we are truly a GREAT bunch of Heli Enthusiasts!

The videos are absolutely fantastic and Bob Finless like :) Can't wait to see the Castle Creations set up. I've got so many questions and fears about my maiden flight I don't even know where to start. Hope you feel better thanks Chris!

Thanks! I am glad the videos were helpful. Sorry I got a little off focus toward the end. I was fighting a bug that finally took most of my voice today :( The supplemental videos promised will have to wait, I am completely inaudible at this point.

I know building with the video took longer but how long would you say it took to do the build?  Just wondering if I start Saturday night if I may finish by Wednesday.  I won't be able to work on it non stop, but may get in a few hours a day.

Oh yeah, the air frame can be completed in about 4 hours if you are familiar with Synergy kits. Electronics install and setup will depend on how finicky you are on hiding wires.

I cannot stress it enough, do not rush the head setup. It might seem mundane to keep popping off links and adjusting, or moving servo horns. But the better the head is setup, the better it will fly. Period.

Above all else, when in doubt, loctite it ;)

I second the head set up time. It took me longer than the build. I popped my links off multiple times to get it set up just right with all the degrees necessary. I also couldn't have done it without the RC Logger pitch gauge kit. Huge help and made it so much easier.

This will be my first Synergy build.  Like you said in the first video, the screws show you where things go unlike the "dinosaur" line so once I put things in alcohol and let it air dry, should go smoothly with my loctite and lubricants.  So you can use Boto lube for everything but the radial bearings correct?  Just seeing about those places where they call for grease. Unfortunately the head setup seems to take me 3 times longer then the frame build so that is what will slow m down I guess which is fine.
