I hate to admit it but I have 3 people that are great at soldering so for major projects I let them do it because they have decades of experience. I can solder minor things but I'm turning to them for my connections on this helicopter.

Don't try to do it with a $20 radio shack pencil. Soldering big connectors correctly and safely requires a tool capable of maintaining consistent heat. Most pencils heat too slow. Not to say you can't get a pencil that will work, but normally the best thing to do, in my opinion of course, is get a good 100-200watt soldering station.

I agree with Chris completely.  When soldering larger connectors and heavy gauge wire a soldering station is practically a must.  I use silver bead soldier which requires a temp of around 600 degrees to flow properly, a soldering pencil just won't get the job done. Having the right tools greatly reduces frustration and the likelihood of a cold soldier joint.

Go to mattbotos.com and click on the link on the right for the official synergy gear. This will take you to Nigel's store he had the towels there.

Another tip came up on the HF forums.

I didn't film it, but when I pulled the bolts from the various frame stand offs and bearing blocks, I put all of them into a small servo case with rubbing alcohol.  The purpose of cleaning the bolts prior to assembling is to remove any lingering machine oil and debris that can hinder the loctite's ability to hold the bolt in place.

As I said on the HF forum, when I set out to build this kit on camera, I wasn't thinking about the newer builder looking for tips to apply to any build, so I didn't think about covering some of the basics of prep.  I can see this kit is attracting ALOT of attention of newer flyers and I want to make sure this collection of videos is as in-depth and accurate as possible. I might even film a "prequel" video of sorts talking about the importance of prep, cleaning the bolts, which types of loctite to have on hand and such.

If you watch one fo the videos and think of something that I either neglected to touch on or didn't explain clearly, please let me know! i will do my best to touch on these topics when I go to put the boom and canopy on the frame for the final time.

I pulled all the bolts out of the metal and put in the alcohol.  How long it was there, can't say. By the time I had them all in the alcohol, I was starting to pull them out and dry them off.  I wipe them down and then let them air dry. Nice thing about alcohol, it evaporates fast.

Cyclic servos and FBL controller aren't in yet. Hopefully tomorrow, but might be tuesday before I get to mount electronics, might be wednesday before we see the next video.

Good news is we are almost done! Mount the servos, talk about setup, and button it up. Looking forward to it!

Thanks for following along.

Had to make an unexpected change in Cyclic servos, the RJX were delayed, so going back to plan A and running the Savox Sc-1267SG HV Cyclics like the set in my E5.

Brain came in today, so tonight we will talk about Electronics :)

Another video filmed this evening, but due to a battery failure (rather the camera guy didn't charge it  >:( ) I lost alot of time and even some film. Won't have time to edit and publish tonight.

Tonights video got through servo and motor install as well as basic FBL setup.  Should be live by noon tomorrow.

Thanks!
