Tail rotor servo arm distance.

Just a question. How many mm are you guys out on the servo arm on the tail rotor, and able to achieve max throw with regards to not stalling out the tail? I am running a cgy750, futaba servo and os55 hz engine. I cant get much more without binding the pushrod on the fanshroud and the engine needle. I have flipped the ball on the rear pivot. But I am missing alot of throw with regards to not being able to up my rates in the CGY for tail servo throw.. Am i just missing the obvious, or is there another trick. Im at the 3rd hole out on a 4 star servo horn, arm pointed down. This is on an N5c

Hey Jabird,

Check out page A43 of the N5c manual and you'll see that you are supposed to use the 4 arm servo horn with the pivot ball installed in the last hole (16.5mm).

Now set everything to 90° mechanically, make sure to set your servo horn at 90° with the servo at neutral. Once you are satisfied with the mechanical, initialize the CGY750, go into the Tail Gyro (basic) menu, and set your limits. They should end up around 100.

Remember, on the N5c it is not necessary for the pitch slider to hit the right radial bearing in the tail case. At this point, the tail blades are pretty much stalled. So stay around 100/100 on your limits and you should be fine.

I know that's what the manual states, but if I do that I hit on the carb's  needle? So I was wondering what others have done.

You can loosen and slightly turn the carb counterclockwise as you look down on it. This will lower the needle just a bit and should give you some clearance.

I have my servo ball flipped like you have and the ball at the 4th hole out. No binding on the carb. It is close. I might have moved the carb a little down as others have suggested.

You need to be in the outer hole on a futaba 4 star horn. I have tested both holes and the tail will not hold as good in the 3rd hole. You will notice this in a fast backward flight or a tail slide. Be careful if you fly in the third hole.

yep, got er all sorted out. did a little twisty on the carb. Now im free and clear the whole way.
