My friend 4cyclic came to the club with Rail716 , I tried them, didn' t think I could ever do anything to make my E7 fly any better, will I was wrong. Matt now I'm in love with you all over again. Now I can't imagine ever going to the club without my E7.

I put 716's on mine last weekend.  I had some problems with bogging. I have the 4035-560 on it and probably need to upgrade to the 4535?

What head speed and pinion where you running? 560kv seems a might high. I wonder if your throttle percentage was a little low.

My 500kv with 12t pinion and 2050 rpm the 716s are fantastic!

Yes. Probably need 470 or 500.
Running the 12t pinion at 1850 and 1950. Percentages were in the high 80s if I remember correctly.

Can you run 716 with 106 tails? Seems like it might help with the 5000 packs?

Yes. But 116s are recommended by Matt and I love the combo. The 716s have a lot of bite!

To run 716s and 116 tails it is recommended to slide the tail box back 5 mm and réclame/pin. This will give the disk some breathing room. The tail box does over the boom almost an inch. Plenty of clamping force left after sliding the box back. And 5mm isn't that much.

In theory you can run them without moving the tail box but in a hard elevator input it would be possible to flex the mains enough to risk touching.

I have 716s on one of my E7s using the Hacker 530 edition motor (6500 watt max). I fly rail 696s at 2000 and to get the same feel I need around 2050-2100 with the 716s. So, I think they do require a bit more horse power. Plus, of course, they do reduce flight time just a bit. I've only got about a dozen or so flights on the 716s. For me the jury is still out. I do love my 696 Rails... :) Edit: I run 110 radix tails with the 716s and they JUST clear the mains in stock trim.

I've lowered my head speed by 150 rpm and get the same flight time.

I've left my Rail 106 tails and for me they work great.

Just curious, what rpm are you now using and do you do any hard backward maneuvers or anything else demanding of the tail? Seems like I remember hearing that larger tail blades are recommended in general for the 716 blades, particularly with lowered head speeds?
