E7 battery
« on: March 09, 2013, 10:53:27 AM »
I just finished converting my belt E6 to a E7 TT and going for the maiden this afternoon!!Cant wait to power it up and see how it fly as a 700 :).

I only have 1 set of battery and will be ordering more soon with a new charger...My pack are GA 4000mah 25c and I got to install them pretty far forward to CoG perfectly. That bugs me since it doesnt look safe and pretty with the front pack half way out of the airframe...

I was wondering if lots of you are flying the E7 with 4000mah?The majority seem to be on 4400mah,is the packs still sits at the very front??I dont really know if I should stick with 4000mah for the benefits of parallel charging.

Thanks

I use 4000 mah packs on my E7. I use the battery tray kit from fblrotors

http://www.fblrotors.com/FBL-Battery-Tray-only-with-Acc_p_503.html

It lets you put the strap on the forward battery closer to the front of the battery. However, before I got the tray kit I still used 4000 batteries successfully. Just put the strap close as you can to the front. you could run a strap through the two slots at the front of the bottom plate of the ship too.

I have ran 3700s in my E7. It really likes the low weight!

As said the tray from Fblrotors helps but can be done without. Just check the cog.

I run TP 3850's with Ralph's trays.
Good flight times. 5-1/2 minutes and not even pushing the packs. I typically put back 2300 back into each. My timer is set at 5-1/2. I get voltage dropping below 3.7v per cell if I run any longer than that. For sport flying I can get a good 6-1/2 minutes. That is running a 1850 headspeed most of the flight.

I use GA 4800 in my E7. I only do sports flying and big air and can get 6 minute flights.

The maiden of the E7 TT was a success and I really loved how light it felt in the air compared to the E6.However ,I got a really steady high pitch sound coming from the bird that I have to figure out...it have  to be from the TT kit since it wasnt there before...any hint on this would be appreciated.

After 4min flight I recharged 4000mah, I should be good for 6m-6m30s for the 80% rule, there is no need to go any bigger capacity pack since the power was more than enough for me at 2000rpm.So,Ill stick with 4000mah.

Still,I am not happy with the packs sitting out like this. I might just rewire the Life receiver pack in front of the mast. That should be enough to get the packs inside the frame and CoG centered.
That tray from fbl rotor looks like a nice feature, that could be a good option. No more hassle with velcro!

The high pitched whine you are hearing is almost certainly the TT assembly. My TT equipped E7s have always squealed a little. Torque tubes are a little noisy compared to belt drive. You may still want a little Velcro on the bottom of the battery trays.

With lighter packs you will need to move them forward or put the rx pack out front.

Like Steve said, I have used velcro that comes with the Kit. Alittle 1 in section on the Chin of the Battery tray.
worked great!
