Holy smokes, the programming is sooooooooo different from Spektrum.  I at least managed to get my name entered, LOL.

Vbar supports all types of receivers. PPM, Sbus, Sbus2, spectrum sats, standard external receiver. Anything. Even the new JR DMSS.

Just have you power up the unit and tell it what kind of rx.

Well, I'm off to maiden the E7 with the new radio.  I got almost everything set up the way that I want it.  I couldn't get the bank switching or gain adjustment endpoints for the SK540 set up yet but I don't want to spend more time digging in to figure it out, right now.  I just went ahead and locked the gains at values that I'm pretty sure are where I had them set before and I'll take my LCD field terminal with me so I can make adjustments if I need to.

The 14SG was actually easier to program than what I thought it would be, based on what I had read prior to buying it.

Oh yeah, and it's my birthday, so wish me luck.  I really don't want to lawn dart my E7 today!

Happy Birthday Rodney!

Don't be surprise if you feel like you need some expo :) The Futaba radios are so much faster than the Spektrum radios!

As for the bank switching, you have to first set the switch you want to use to the correct channel on the Function menu, then you can adjust that channels end points and direction as needed. It took me a few to figure this out! I use banks a lot on my E5s and E750 so I had to figure it out :)

As for gain, thats on the Gyro menu. You can set what channel, defaults to gear for tail. You can set both tail and head gains here and link them to flight modes as well.  It really is neat what you can do with the 14SG.

Let me know if you need any help :) I am sure Alan can help as well, he is a wiz at Futaba!

Ok bought dx18 about month ago should I have gone with 14sg? My friends fly futaba but I can't stomach switching receivers! My friends make me feel bad about my dx18 but to me flys great.... Who's tried both?

I went from a dx18 to a futaba 14SG. Wasn't nearly as painful as I thought. By the time I sold all my spectrum rxs and sats i had plenty of money to buy the majority of my futaba rxs.

As far as flight differences. They both fly great. I switched because I wanted to learn futaba. Now that I have had a chance to learn futaba. I could be happy with both. But I do enjoy the flexibility and programmability of the futaba.

Yeah i was wondering about your DX18 Chris.  Now that I see you have switched I'm thinking about it now.  I got spektrum because last year I started switching to blade stuff.  But I don't intend to buy any more products from that line.  Maybe it's time to research the futaba radios!

Just as a side slide in there, I have a DX18 and I enjoy it. I like it a lot better than my old DX8 for feel and functions.

I don't think you'd go wrong with either radio but if you already have the 18 there's nothing wrong with keeping it. Don't let other people make you feel bad or that you should switch something like that. Let it be your personal preference and likes.

Right now I have the dx7s. I like how it feels in my hands but at some point I would like to upgrade. No rush.  Maybe some new things will be unveiled in a couple I months at IRCHA.

Well, I actually brought my helicopter home in one piece!  WOOT!

I really like the feel of the gimbals on this radio.  They are so smooth and precise feeling compared to my DX8.  I definitely still have some tweaking to do but, so far, I'm thinking it's definitely a big step up from the DX8.

I still have some things going on with my E7 that are making me really nervous.  It's still making that weird sound.  Also, on my last flight today, when the heli was kind of far out from me it was acting really strange.  I don't know if it really wasn't reacting to my inputs (which is what it seemed like) or if it was just far enough out and it's been long enough since I last flew, that I lost orientation and it just seemed to be doing weird things.  I've had so many weird crashes in the last several months, I'm just really paranoid.  I think I'm going to tear the E7 down pretty far and inspect everything and then start from scratch on the SK540 setup, just to make sure that I'm going through everything thoroughly.
