I was asked about my recent change to iKon on my N5c, more specifically how I end up tuning the GOV and Cyclic feel. I am creating a thread to discuss my iKon FBL conversion and my setup notes.
I will post my setup files as I make changes. After just 4 flights I am already up to v3 on my setup.
Started out with everything at the default gains for both the gov and the cyclic ( default 600 ). After just one flight I had to adjust the overall gov gain down a bit and I took the I gain down a bit too. The head was holding speed on in circuits but in any hard collective moves it was over speeding badly. Brought the P gain down to 40 and the I gain down two clicks. Sorry cant remember the number off hand.
Two more flights this way. The gov feels a lot better. A little over speeding at the top of a hard full collective climb out but recovers quickly and it seems much improved in circuits and basic aerobatics ( tic tocs and funnels ).
I did adjust the agility down to 85 prior to the fourth flight. Cyclic is perfect for my there and the Heli really responded well. If I hadn't ran out of time i would have easily flown a few more tonight. But life calls
I will post the files of my setup progression shortly. Need to get my laptop out.
One other note, on the fourth flight I started doing some full collective diving speed runs. At full clip the elevator wanted to pull up uncommanded, the pull seemed to be worse the faster I pushed it. I will be adjusting the Elevator P gain as soon as I get the helis in out of the car.
Currently there are 3 revisions to my setup, a 4th coming after I adjust the Elevator a touch.
