Battery options for E7SE
« on: June 29, 2013, 02:58:21 PM »
What 12S set ups are for the SE edition?  Will 5000 Pulse packs fit inthe frame or will I need to step down 4.4k or lower. Have not owned a Synergy till this SE so looking for option. Thanks.

I have put everything from 3300s to pulse ultra 65c 7 cell 5000s in the frames. Even the oversized gens ace 5300s fit. The frames on the e7 offer a large area to put packs.

That being said quite a few people fly their e7s on 4400 packs. I even have a set of 3700s I use when just flying circuits.  The e7 loves light packs!

Thanks Chris, I'm like you a sport big air flyer and only started the loop/flips just to get ready for IRCHA  small space flying. I'm looking at Pulse packs (green), have you tried those? My first batt's were pulse (red) and they did not last long at all. What's yours or anybody's take on batteries?? I use Spider packs now and only have had 1 go bad so torn between which to start out with not. What are your big air flying times with the different size Bart's?  Thanks again.

I fly virtually exclusively pulse ultra packs, the green ones. I have a set of 5000 with almost 220 cycles.

SGM, I understand that GensAce will be available again sometime next week.  I have three sets of 6S 5300 mAh 60C with over 180 flights each on them in less than a twelve month period.   GensAce have worked well for me.  Don't forget a 6S pack for slow mo!

SGM, I get 10 min flight times with a head speed of 1210 using a 6S 5300 mAh pack.  You will love it!  You will need to make a loop back plug for the second set of connectors on your ESC to fly a single 6S pack.  There are plenty of "slow mo" videos from Matt and Rob Cherry on this site and You tube. Hope to see you at Covington in October.

Chris,
Are you using the Pulse 4500 packs now?  I have a handful of the 5000 65C Ultras, and was planning on using those, but if the weight difference (on the Pulse Ultras 5000 65C = 816g, 4500 65C = 780g, total 12S diff = 72g) I need to put in an order!!!  Or is there a better 4400 - 4500 to use?

I am running 4400 glaciers and 4400 thunder powers on my E7se at the moment. I have tried the 4500 Pulse, they work well.  The weight savings is significant but the 5000s still fly great. The vast majority of my batteries are the Pulse Ultra, they hold up well. I just wanted to try some new sizes.

I am currently using the 4400mAh 60C 6S packs from GensAce, each pack weighs approx 730g. I also use Optipower 4300 6s 30C packs, these are a little lighter at 700g per pack.

I'm really liking the GensAce packs at the moment, great size and weight with awesome performance.

Hope this helps,
Ross

Wow, I had the maiden flight today and I had one "Thor 3700mah 12S 44.4V 35C Lipo Split Stick Pack" that weights around 1230 grams, and it did give 5 minutes of just figure eight flying no problem!  My thoughts are that by the specs there is a "PULSE LIPO 5000mAh 44.4V 45C STICK VERSION" that claims to be 1360 grams which seems a lot lighter that 2 of the same 6S batteries???  I might order one just to try it out.

Edit - just saw another website had the Pulse listed as 1600 grams - sounds more inline with 2 of the same 6S...

I have tried many types of batteries but I have settled for 4400s. They are a good balance of weight and flight time.

Currently I am running 2 set thunder power 70c 4400s and 1 set of pulse ultra 45c 4500s.

What sorta flight times can be expected out of 4000mah 12s do you guys think that is too small of a pack to be enjoyable?

I use both 3850's and 4400's.  3850's work fine.  I get a solid 5-1/2 minutes at 1850.  Light 3D stuff.
Using the 4400's I run at 2000.  Flight time is the same just a little more pep.  Both setups are great though.  So I would use the 4000's and shoot for 1900.  Flight times should be acceptable.

Cheers
