Synergy rack in SUV
« on: July 08, 2013, 10:09:40 PM »
Alright family, just got new car, a small SUV. I'm going to build a rack to keep helis in. So I can use my trunk space for generators, fuel, crash parts etc.. Anyone have pics, ideas or suggestions? Be cool to emboss synergy logo or somehow incorporate it! Lets see your heli transportation!

I use a 1/2 inch thick wood board from Home Depot.  I attached yellow KSJ680 skid mounts.  http://www.ronlund.com/rcheli-prod/KSJ680.html

I'll take pictures with the helicopters in the future.

I designed this one in SolidWorks and it has worked really well. It is 100% Red Oak (wanted something different), stained and is still light enough to slide out and remove. The kids seats stay in the vehicle, all of my radio gear fits underneath and you can load a stroller and luggage in and on it when needed.

The stereo part still needs to be cleaned up, but it is VERY functional!

Nice. If my eyes don't deceive me you have a CR-V which I just bought a new one in June myself and was thinking of doing something like this myself as well.

Brandon,

Yes its a CRV, and when you have 700's in them they get small quick!  The best part about this rack is you can drive without worry of your helis getting smashed or tip over, they stay right in place!  Im gonna carpet it soon.

That's what I'm debating is if I build one whether I want to stain it or carpet it. Carpet would be a nice finished touch. Hmm. The wheels are turning. Thanks for sharing your pictures, that looks really nice.

Not sure about organized but I did pack for all contingencies. If I can fix it on site it may be unfixable:-)
