Speed up gears
« on: October 18, 2013, 03:02:54 PM »
Decided to stretch my e5 and after installing the 54 and 12 tooth gears for the tail is seems to be a bit tight. I can feel each tooth when turning by hand. Not to bad just more than I think is right. I haven't flown it yet to wear them in any. Just thought i'd ask if it is normal to be so tight when new?

Thanks,
Pete

Mine were same way. Few flights and all was well. :)  Several posts mentioning this. Tight tolerances mentioned.

Edit: Double check boom is flush with clamp

Boom is flush. I was able to tilt the gearbox a little when loosening screws. I adjusted the tilt just a hair and it seems to be more like my e7 when new. Still tight but smooth  ;D

Thanks for the help, can't wait to try the e6. As a 550 it was awesome, almost didn't want to change cuz it was so good.

As 4cyclic said, you will love it stretched. Stretched mine from the start. So I got me another one, to fly as a 550 :)
