E5s motor options

Already running an E5 with Scorpion 4020-1100kv motor.  I bought a spare kit and it's been sitting in the basement since I received it. Well I think I'm going to build it out as an E5s... Motor options are abundant for 600 class and even some 700 class motors shoved in the frames. So what should we be using in an E5s?

With all the looking around on a 12s setup the motor leading the pack at his point in the decision is a Scorpion 4225-610kv Limited. It's lighter than the 4035-500 series motors with better performance.

What other options are guys using? Would like to get feedback on performance and flight times... However we all know times vary as do flying styles. If you can post vids... Kinda hard to dispute a 5:30 min vid of someone smackin round a heli.

At 52.3 mm, the 4225-610 will be too wide to fit between the frames.  Also, the 4225 is almost twice as much $ and is rated for less continuous power than the 4035.  I don't think you can go wrong with a HKIII 4035.

The KDE-530 motor is a popular option for the E5s

Chumley I understand that the 4225-550 & 610Kv motors are 52.3 mm. However as its been previously pointed out by Matt and others the frames can be spaced out or the popsicle trick can be used to shape the frames around the motor. As far as cost goes...not really concerned about that. But I just checked experiencerc.com and the 4225-550 at experience is $262 & the 4035 series at experiencerc.com is $249...not really that much of a difference. Performance on paper is fairly similar, but where I do see the difference is weight. The 4035 series motors all weigh in around 460grams. The 4225-550/610 weigh in 393grams. 10s vs 12s packs? well thats another discussion topic for another time.

But as an example here's a Logo 600 sx with a 4225-610 motor(10s) 2300 i believe. Sorry its not a Synergy heli but it shows what the motors got. As I said above I like(as well as others) seeing vids as your not just throwing out an "I like it, it fly good" statement.

True, you can make the 4225 fit and the price is comparable at Experience.  I'm not sure if you'll feel 2.36 oz difference but get what makes you happy. 8)

Well and thats the thing Im not sure the 4225 is the answer, I'd like to weigh all the options. Hopefully find something that gives great performance. Most of the threads I've searched are all over the map as far as what E5s guys are using.

So, for a frame of reference, you don't consider the performance of Rob's E5s in that video to be satisfactory?

You can certainly get what makes you happy, but I was wondering what the problem is with the 4035?  You say the 4225 outperforms the 4035, but the 4035-560 is rated for 100 amps and 4200 watts continuous power whereas the 4225-610 is only rated at 80 amps and  3550 watts continuous.  The big thing for me is that the 4035 drops right in with no frame warping or frame spacing.  Plus, I've never had anyone fly my E5S with the 4035 in it say it needs more power.  Here is Matt's comment about my HKIII 4035-560:

In your videos, you show the 4225 in a Logo - my Logo with batteries is about the same weight as the E5 without batteries so this is not really an apples to apples comparison.

Ok, apples to apples...I just weighed my Align t600e pro with a 12s 3300 spyder pack. Took my blades off the 600 and put them on my e5 and put the same 12s pack in it. The t600e was 8lb 12.1ounces the e5 with the same 12s pack and 600 blades was 8lb 13ounes. I run the stock align 600mx 510kv motor and the specs are Max continuouscurrent:75A/125A(5sec) Max output power:3300W/5500W(5sec).

So how is it I get 4:30 flight time flying like the logo video i posted above on a motor that is only rated 75a & 3300w? So why should I put a 4035 motor in my e5s and only get 3:30-3:40 min of flight time when I can put a Align 600mx motor in and get 4:30 and at a lower cost? Just because you put a motor in that is rated higher amps/watts doesnt mean you cant get better performance/flight time. No doubt the 4035 motor is a good motor...but from what ive seen on videos posted online its making round 3:30-3:40 on flight time.

There are other options for 600 motors and thats the reason i made the original post to begin with...I'd like to hear what those are...Thanks

I'm using the vertigo 1175kv motor and really like it. It runs really cool.
