How to remove and reinsert the (506-920) E rings on the pins
« on: November 24, 2013, 06:12:42 PM »
I am trying to convert my E5 plastic tail sliders to the E7SE metal tail slider.  I need to remove the (506-920) e-rings off the (606-921) tail pitch link pins.  The e-rings are really small.  Do I need a tool like the DuraTrax E-clip Tool?  If not, how do I remove these e-rings?

I use a small jewelers screwdriver or a blunted tip of an exacto blade in a pinch. Keep spares handy :-) and a magnifying glass ...

Good advice Alan. Also when putting the E clip back on, get a gallon size ziplock bag. Big enough to put the slider assy. into, along with your hands. That way when the clip tries to go flying across the room it'll still be inside the bag.

I have been using a needle nose plier.  It works, but I was wondering if there is a dedicated tool for this job.  It seems like there isn't.  Thanks guys.

Great idea on the baggie Chuck! That's one I will remember.

Cheers

Good tip Chuck! I'll have to remember that one!  ;)

I use the tip of a wide blade flat screwdriver to remove the 'E' Clip, using the flat tip to push the clip off the pin. When re-installing the clip i hold the clip in place with my fingers then using the large edge of the screwdriver to push the clip into place. It can be a bit fiddly but i've found this works for me.

Hope this helps,
Ross
