e5 canopy mounts options
« on: February 09, 2014, 08:23:26 AM »
HI all! I just finished building 2 e5 kits. Building synergy kits is a Dream. One thing I'm not in love with is the quick release on the e5, they just don't seem to catch. Perhaps its the rubber grommet the male side rests in preventing the full engagement. One good tug and the unseated mounts are revealed. thoughts????
Thanks,
John

The grommets will loosen up a bit after a few cycles. Just make sure you push the pins in until you hear a click.

I've had to resort to pushing them in with a small socket so that the button is not pushed. Man is it flipping cold out! I got some maidening to do 8)

I open the hole in the canopy up so the grommet will rotate in the hole without much effort.  This will relieve any compression on the grommet.  They seem to last longer this was also.  Some silicone grease or spray lube applied to the grommet also makes them key chain mounts easier to push in.

Cheers

Matt told me to use a little grease on the pins. I greased the pins and rubbed some in the quick release balls.  I also put a bit into the receptacles on the frame. It made a huge difference.

Yes.  I have gotten some kidding about the can of silicone spray I keep in my flight box.  I give the pins and grommets a shot every few flights..

Cheers

If you file the outer face of the female portion on the frame a bit, they will lock in more easily.
