what to do with my spare e5
« on: April 22, 2014, 09:14:03 PM »
I already have an e5 running 556 rails with everybody's favorite 4025-1100 kv scorpion. I freakin love this heli!!!
I happen to have another e5 airframe  8) How would you build it and why?keep in mind I want to showcase how unique, special and different synergy helicopters are. I fly at three different fields and I'm always stopped to talk about my helis....ok Go!

There are several options, but these are the ones that come to mind.

Option #1:  Stretch it to spin 606/96 blades on 12S.  Change the tail ratio to 1:4.5.

Option #2:  Keep it as a single LiPo setup spinning 556/96 blades, but change the electronics.  Different FBL system, maybe 7S LiPo, different motor (KDE-1100), etc.

Stretch it out to a 700 if you really want to be different. A few guys have done this. I saw one of them at a fun fly last year and that thing auto'd all day long.

You could build another 556 machine as somebody mentioned and use different gear.  Maybe have one machine as a lighter lower headspeed machine with the other being a bit heavier but with higher headspeed for insane 3d?  Could always have a 6s 556 machine and a 12s 556 machine as well.  So many choices with this machineā€¦

Thanks guys! All great ideas. I have hacker motor 530 kv I can put in it. Im not really a fan of running a big 12s setup mostly because I dont have great charging capability, but if I kept it to smaller lighter packs and stretch it to a 600. That could be do able. Ive also considered a dedicated e5s low head speed setup.  I guess with the former I could run the 6s jumper power setup if I wanted to fly low hs.

Hmmm,
I read the topic title and jumped in here intending to give you my postal address so you could send your unused kit to a good home (mine). Just kidding, ok?  ;D

Anyhow seems you've already been given some good options.

I'm currently building my first E5 and it'll be very similar to the one you're using now.
I see you've already mentioned a low head speed setup, that'd be my suggestion as well.
