Main blade shims alignment
« on: May 24, 2014, 02:08:01 AM »
I find getting the shims aligned with the grip and the blade a real PITA.
It always take a lot of attempts when I have to assemble them.
Does anybody red locktite the shims on the blade once forever? Any other tips?

I align the shims on the blade then slide it into the grip. Then I use a small hex driver  to align everything in the hole. Slide the bolt in and tighten the nut then you are good to go.

I use the same method as Rymps. Hold washers on blade and slide in. Wiggle hex driver to align the holes and your done.

It's really quick when you get the hang of it.

Cheers,
Mark

I stick a bolt though the hole to get everything started, than I remove the bolt and push it the rest of the way in and use a hex wrench as stared above. I also put some Boto Lube on both sides of the washers to help everything move freely.

I've never tried it, but I believe CA would be better than red Loctite for this application.

No, that's pretty much how I do it, too.  It's the tail blades that usually give me the most problems, though.

I'm using the same method as Rymps and MJ, I'm getting faster at it the more I do it.

I also use the same method as rymps and MJ, but might also add that if you set it where you can look down through the holes helps as well. 👍 just do it a few hundred times and it will definitely fall into a rhythm.
