E7 Speed Coming Soon!
« on: May 24, 2014, 07:33:07 PM »
Well folks the landing gear system has been completed and tested. The whole package (gear and canopy) will be ready soon from what Matt told me. No I don't know the exact time frame but we will be letting you know when we know.

The landing gear is carbon fiber and aluminum. It bolts on in place of the stock landing gear. I watched Matt fly it today and I am sure everyone will be pleased. The airframe sits nicely on the gear with the tail slightly elevated. It is very stable on the ground and the rear gear has the same overall width as the stock landing gear system. Sorry I neglected to get any photos of it sitting on the ground.

Here are a couple of photos from Huntsville today. I will eventually post the in flight photos.
Cheers
Alan

That looks very nice and modern.  Please, tell us about your "speed" setup.

My speed setup is a Scorpion 4530-450 running on 14s through a Kontronic Kosmik 160.  I am using Futaba BLS171SV servos (514oz of torque).  I have my collective set at 15 degrees of pitch and run 2500 on the head speed.  Rail 716 Blades.  Batts are TP G8 3850mah.  I may bump that to 4400.

The onboard GPS has clocked it at 122mph without an effort and without the speed canopy or landing gear.

I just need to get practicing on getting low and fast :-)

Chris will comment on his setup I am sure.

Cheers

Alan

N7 front mounts, right?  I may get one of those canopies just for 3D.  8)

My setup is very similar to Alan's

4530 450 le
14s pulse ultra 4400
Kosmik 200
BLS255HV Cyclic
BLS256HV tail
Rob Cherry custom speed skids
Rail 716 mains
96mm tails
4.0:1 tail ratio
2500 on the head
17 degrees of pitch.

Swash is lowered to get that much pitch without cyclic binding on elevator input. Won't 3d well like this but will hover inverted.

Just waiting on speed canopy. Have yet to get any telemetry data yet.

Yes. N7 front mounts. I am thinking the same. Use this canopy regardless of the application since it has such a great presence in the air. Would make a nice F3c canopy also.

Been running the same motor as you two for some time now. But using a YGE 160HV. I just recently switched to Torq servos and experimenting with a Micro Beast. Seems like my FFF pitch up problem is gone now. Still running a set of 14s TP 65C 4400's.  We'll start cranking in some more head speed and pitch now. Also waiting on a speed canopy and new landing gear.

Who is competing in the IRCHA Speed Cup with their E7SE Speed?

I will be there running a stock 12S setup. :)
