Spektrum Backplate RPM Sensor
« on: June 14, 2014, 10:52:11 PM »
I have HV servos for my N7. I also have a Spektrum backplate RPM sensor.  Does anyone know if I need a step down regulator for this device or can I run it directly from the 2S LiPo flight pack?

Which FBL unit are you using? For example, the Vbar regulates the power output on the sensor port to 3.3v.

Right now I have a loaner V-Bar on the machine and I am waiting to get my Skookum 720 BE replaced by Skookum.  Sounds like I can hook up to the V-Bar and make the governor work tomorrow.  Thanks for the feedback.

Governor worked perfectly with the V-Bar and the Spektrum Backplate monitor.  Thanks MJB for your guidance.

Out of curiosity, which vbar governor did you use (2-channel or combined)?  I am still on throttle curves with the vbar, but about ready to move over to vbar gov...

The V-bar I am using is a loaner from a friend that flys only vbar.  He did the setup and chose "Nitro combined channel". I will ask him why he made that choice after he gets home from work.

He used combined to make it simple.

I used combined too, if you have used Kontronic ESC's, the concept is very similar, flat line curves for requested speed, you can watch the VBar setup to see what the requested speed is. Also it has a nice slow spool up so you cant fold the blades accidently, also an auto rotation bail out function too, works really well.
