E5 + Castle ICE2 HV 120 + CGY750 + SG14
« on: July 24, 2014, 07:56:50 AM »
Hey guys seeking some setup guidance re the above. I just purchased this Heli second hand. I was advised that it was setup and flight tuned to perfection by someone who is very familiar with the kit.

I am new to most of the components. I have a CGY750 on my TREX 500 and my Tx is SG14 and apart from some dual rates and gains it's a standard H1 config in the Tx with all the settings in the CGY750.

I have no experience with the Castle ESC, but I am told that the Heli is setup to run the Castle governor and the CGY750 is set correctly for the Heli.

So my question is this. How can I go about creating a model in my Tx to take advantage of the existing Castle and CGY750 setup? I was thinking to copy the model from my TREX to a new one, bind the E5, verify the swash movement etc. This seems logical to me but I'm unsure what to do re the castle governor and what I need to do in the Tx with respect to the governor.

Any advice appreciated? I have just ordered a Castle USB so when it arrives I can load the software and send what's set to what. But am still not certain if my approach is valid.

Thanks
Stuart.

Thanks Kym. Will look at the video. As for the phone call, it might be a challenge with time zones.., I'm in Australia.

First thing to know is what transmitter did the previous owner use. If it was Futaba, then getting his setup info would be very helpful, because the CGY750 can have a lot of gain adjustments made from the radio.

Most important thing is for the Castle...
You will need to:
1 - reverse the throttle channel on your 14SG
2 - set the end points for the Throttle for the castle.

If it was Castle setup with set RPM, then you will need to set throttle curves flat at: 30%, 70% and 100% to use the three different headspeeds.
So of course you will need to connect to the ESC with the Castlelink to see what the settings are.

Now having said all that, in your situation I would...
Review all the existing settings and write them down
Then start everything from scratch so that you learn about the devices and their programming.
