Slop under Jesus Bolt Collar
« on: August 03, 2014, 08:35:30 PM »
Quick question.  Is the gap below the Jesus bolt collar normal? Right now the slop is being held by the main shaft collar.  While it appears to be tight, I'm concerned the main shaft could slip down under hard flying.

Are additional shims needed under the jesus bolt collar?

Thanks.

A little slop there is normal but you need to turn the collar over. The raised boss is what impacts the main bearing race.

The slop between left over can be adjusted out with the upper collar or if the slop seems excessive there should be a shim in the extra parts bag.

Thanks Chris!

I will turn turn the collar over.

I bought the kit used and didn't receive any extra parts.  Are you referring to part 109-110? 10mm Main Shaft shim?

Hi Lou70,

Good advice from Chris, the collar is upside down and the section with the raised boss should face against the bearing. Also from looking at the collar it looks as though the bolt is not the original bolt, i would check this and replace it with the 100-320A M3x20 Bolt as this will be the correct shank and high tensile strength bolt for the application.

Yes, the 109-110 shim should be in the spares bag but it can be ordered as a spare if you don't have it.

Thank you Ross.

The manual does mention the use of 100-320A for the lower bolt.

Can the 100-325A M3x25 bolts be used in both locations?

My appologies! Reading the manual with not enough coffee to wake me up!  ;D yes it is the 100-320A Bolt that is needed in the collar. I have corrected my post above.

The 100-320A and 100-325A bolts must be used in their respective locations as the 100-325A bolt will have a longer shanked section and therefore won't allow the nut to tighen up correctly.

Cheers,
Ross
