Auto Hub Assembly

I assume this assembly needs to be disassembled and reassembled? And while I have it apart, Do I need to oil the one way?

I put light oil on mine.  I also grease all the bearings on a new build and periodically there after.

I do with light oil. Don't forget to Loctite the bushings in to the one way bearing.

Hi Carzan,

It is recommended to disassemble the auto hub assembly and flush out any grease which is in the bearing and then re-lube with a light oil such as Tri-Flow, a light machine oil or ATF. I use the sleeve just pressed inside the bearing to hold the rollers etc in place and use WD40 with the straw nozzle attached to flush out the grease then some compressed air in a can, the kind you see for cleaning computers or electronics to flush out the WD40.

It is also recommended to remove the bronze bushings, clean the recess in the hub and the bushings to remove any oil/grease and then reinstall them using red loctite.

Help Needed...

I have a spur gear that doesn't seem to be round. First of all, When I went to disassemble it so I could place loctite on the screws, It was so tight I could barely get the small screws out. I read in the manual that over tightening this gear is a no no and can result in the distortion of the gear. Well upon installation of the main mast it became clear that this gear is oblong. And I mean Bad!

I am positive this is a result of the pre-assembly being too tight but not interested in what ever wait or red tape I would encounter to try and get it replaced by Synergy. So I checked Ron's site and of course he doesn't have any spur gears in stock. My question is two fold.

1. Does anybody know of a shop that has spur gears in stock?  It's the 54 toot Spur Gear
2. Is this a part that I should invest in a spare on the wall?

With our N9's it was the Crown Gear (same thing) that seemed to give many trouble. I found however, once the mesh was set correctly the crown gears seemed to be solid for us though.

Doing a quick search I see Ralph (fblrotors.com) has them in stock. I thought I had an extra one but it was the 52t not the 54t or I would have sent it to ya. Hope this helps and sorry for your screwed up part but it does happen and I am sure Matt will make it right. I would send him a email asap. Matt has them in stock as well.

I have 2 sets os stock e5 spur gears and Dennis at www.thehelifarm.com has alot of synergy parts in stock.  Jeff might have some to.

I saw another thread this week where someone thought they had an out of round spur gear but it turned out he somehow ended up with the wrong spur gear.

Maybe I should Count the teeth. %4 would be the correct gear if my instructions are correct. Am I right Rodney?

54 teeth on my Spur Gear. Its the correct one. Just not round. I have ordered two from Matt. They will be here this week most likely. Doesn't really matter though as I have a Business trip to Las Vegas for the Toyota Dealer Meeting and Ill be gone until Friday. Then It's off to the beach for the Labor day holiday. Looks like my N5 won't get anymore work until September!  :'( :'( :'(

Here she sits until my FBL unit comes in and I get back from the road! She is ready for electronics and set-up! And of course a new spur gear. LOL.

Guys, I got 2 spare spur gears in and installed one of them on the heli. It's better but the mesh still seems to be very tight. I have loosened up the front transmission to try and get some relief there but not really much difference. Has anyone encountered this or is there a trick to getting this gear mesh set correctly? Or should I just let it "run in" ?    Any info appreciated.
