It was great meeting part of the team! You guys are fantastic! ;D Big kudos for team Synergy!!! Matt did a great job picking his team members. I might talk to Matt to see what it would talk to join the team…

Chris, I wish we had more time to hang out and get to know one  another a bit more, but you were busy setting up helis, and that's ok…maybe IRCHA or next year!

Alan, thanks again for all the help you provided with my N7 issues (ex. the dreaded O.S.105HZ-R issues!), and just hanging out. I can't wait for next year…even though the drive there was long and boring! LoL!

Finally!!! ;D

I pulled the regulator off of the motor, opened it and gave it a good alcohol cleaning! I was able to get out and test fly a couple of helis yesterday, the weather finally turned nice. Since finding the issue with my N7 (the factory tape), I replaced the factory tape on my second Goblin Gasser, and now it fly great!

After some minor carb adjustments, the N7 is fly great! I need to adjust the programming some...in the meantime, I was able to get two flights on it from start to finish. The first flight, I ran it out of fuel! The fuel magnet did a great jog of emptying the fuel tank!

Close to the end of the second flight, I played with some autos. Changing to the shorter (695's) Rail blades, made all the difference in the world. I was able to get slow descending autos, somewhat like what Matt does.

So once I make a few adjustments in the Spartan Vortex... ;D

My first 8 flights all ended in autos because I was having so much fun, I didn't hear my timer going off.  :D  On the plus side, the N7 is an absolute blast to shoot autos with.  It just seems to float down forever.

Thanks Rodney! ;D

Yesterday, I added another two flights on my N7. The first flight, it was performing great. The second flight, the regulator started acting up again! So it is coming off until I get the parts to fix it!!!

But in the mean time, my autos are getting really long! This is awesome! Even my buddy Mark was marveling how well it flies, almost to the point of pushing the button to buy one! This is one super great heli! (I would of used the word "awesome", but I have already used it and didn't want to sound like someone who didn't know any other words besides "awesome")

At a fun fly last year I was shooting an auto with my N7 and the guy who was spotting for me said "I had no idea that it was possible to auto that slow".  :)

Ok, I removed the regulator and changed the line coming from the motor's backplate to the muffler. So now The O.S.105HZ-R is now an "HZ"...non-pumped.

While I was working on the carb, I used the opportunity to check my heli over...all the nuts, bolts, and screws. Everything was tight except for...one motor mount bolt was missing. An easy fix! This Saturday is looking very good for a full day of flying! Sunny, 60+ degrees, and 0-6 mph winds. Mark and I have made plans to fly all day! We are bringing our arsenal of helis! ;D

sounds like a great weekend to me! glad you have your n7 going well now!

i use denatured alcohol to clean everything with, it helps with the bolts. its hard to get all the oil out of every nook and cranny on the heli, that stuff does a great job of getting into very small places and removing the oil.

Glad to hear you are now happy with the 105...  I assume no further issues with the spartan as well?

Cheers

Hey Alan,

I haven't tried the OS as a non-pumped just yet. I will this Saturday. As for the Spartan issues?...not a one! ;D There all gone!!! ;D ;D ;D
Once home from the fun fly, I changed the tape on my goblin gasser (which had the same problem as my N7), and now it flies the way it should! So I'm supper happy now

Saturday should be a blast! I'll be bringing the following helis; the Rave ENV 90, Synergy N7, Mostro nitro, and the Goblin gasser #2. I want to see how the Synergy N7, Rave, and Mostro stack up against one another.

I know the Rave is a "big air" / FAI / 3D heli. The Synergy (from what I've read...could be completely off) more of a 3D machine. And the Mostro...pretty much a 3D machine. So I will find out who is who.

My flying style is more of a combination of FAI/3D, mostly technical...controlled. I like a mix of big air to short and sweet in your face to smooth transitions.

The N7 can be anything you wish. It's all in the setup.  Granted the power of the 105 does make it a monster. The N7 I am currently building uses the 91 HZ-R which is ample power but will require more collective management.
A buddy has the rave and it is also 3d capable but nothing near the N7. He converted his to electric which changed things a good bit.

Cheers

I kind of gathered that after the first few flights. The 105 is an awesome motor for the 90 size helis. It definitely helped the Rave ENV for the good...in my opinion.

I flew my Rave with the O.S.91HZ and the motor was always on the ragged edge for me. And I was working on collective management skills as well (which didn't help matters, many motor rebuilds!). The 105 really helped my Rave to the point of not using all the power it can provide. I'm using maybe 70% of its capability now. However, the Rave as an electric...watchout! It becomes a monster!

Ok N7 fans! I'm still having motor/carb issues. Just removing the regulator doesn't work. The carb the O.S. company picked was/is designed for a reason. So I'm using a cerb from an O.S.91HZ motor. I can always richen the carb if needed versus leaning the other carb to the point of closing off the main needle. If this doesn't work, then I'll try the original carb and try it again. And if that doesn't work...I buy a non-pumped motor...

I received the new needle seat for the regulated carb and its installed, just haven't tried it yet. The weather for tomorrow is almost perfect! I will be taking 3 helis to wring out.

It kind of funny...at the B-Ham fun fly, after finding the controller issue with the N7 was the tape, and my comment about my Rave using the factory tape... Well, this last weekend, I was having issues with my Rave not wanting to fly the way I wanted it to fly! It was if someone was trying to take over for me! I was able to land without any problems. Now it has the 3M gray tape!

The Mostro...I almost burned that one up! Literally!!! :o :( :'( It was my fault for the dead short, but caught it in time and prevented a major disaster!
