I have used the Demon and the CGY on the E5. The CGY is my preference. The tail performance is great for me.

I've been using iKon for a while now... I like it & have it on 3 birds. I'd like to give the CGY a go tho.

seen your posts on another forum, I also have 3 sk540 and they fly well but I did try a cgy on the goblin that I owned briefly and I think it flies better , the sk is far easier to tune though I just wish they had left some of the advanced parameters in as I still have a few wobbles that I just can't get rid of, I think I will try another cgy on the e5 as I like to tinker with the fine tuning

There is one down side to the E5. And that is change over time. I mean I run 12s on mine and changing the battery's at the field is a bit of a pain. Not so bad if your running 6s. There are some mods for this out there that work well. I'm using a stick pack on my E7 and its a pleasure to change. That being said, my E5 is the heli I fly the most out of all my fleet. I see Matt has solved that problem (battery) on the 766 ;D

The E5 is a GREAT helicopter! I've been flying mine issue free for over 2 years. My original E5 flew as a 6s 550 for over a year then went on to a 12s 550 for about 6 months and now over a year as a 700 super stretch. Knock on wood I haven't crashed it yet but I also haven't had a need to replace anything other than head dampers. Keep the head and tail greased and the bearings will last forever. I started out flying the E5 with an Ikon and had some issues getting the tail dialed in but I also live/fly at 6000' asl and things work a little differently. I went to a 4:9 tail ratio and and haven't had any problems! On the 600 stretch and 700 stretch I am running the 4:9 tail ratio and 106 tails and everything holds great! I am now running CGY 750s in all my birds and it has been solid! Nothing wrong with the Ikons though.
Thanks,

JM

I fly my E5SS on 12S 5000mAh batteries. The fix I did to make battery changes quick is pick up some battery shrink from Matt. The part number is HST-414. I turned my brick style 6S packs into the stick style.

Clear packaging tape all the way across the top and bottom of the two packs together, then wrap the front and rear of the stick with a couple turns of packing tape. A small section of heat shrink in the middle to stiffen the packs and I've never been happier. They've held up very well, and changing packs is a breeze. I just use about an inch or a little more of 3M Dual Lock at the front and strap them down. They're easy in, easy out and never move.

The e5 is crazy versatile-
I don't think there is any other machine that you can safely go from a 6s 550 to a 12s+ 700 so easily.
