I've just about finished my e5 build and been through the cgy750 and have it all setup ready for the maiden , my last question for now is how do I hold the battery in(6s) I see the slots for a velcro strap but what stops it flying  out in a piro , is there a battery tray available for it or what's recommended

I use about an inch of 3m/Scotch Dual Lock at the nose and wrap my 2 straps all the way around the frames for my 12s setup. Dual Lock has very high shear strength and will prevent sliding, and the straps constrain all other degrees of freedom. Never had a pack move using this combo.

If u prefer a tray, try FBLRotors.. Some like it, some don't.. I do so I don't have to fool around with straps every time I change packs. http://www.fblrotors.com
It requires u to install a clip at the front of the bottom plate.. That's all.. The tray itself has 3 tabs.. 2 lock into the holes of the bottom plate, and then one that locks into the clip that u installed at the front of the plate.. A little on the expensive side I admit.. But it's WAY convenient.

On the E5, I like using two straps per pack.  Since the front of the battery tray is tapered, I zip-tie a short CF rod on the front to prevent the front strap from slipping forward.





This is a pic of a 12S setup, but the 6S setup would just use two straps for the single 6S pack.

curmudgeon , what is on the bottom of your battery tray? I did find the fbl rotors one but they are out of stock atm. and also a little spendy. going to look up 3m dual lock

I use a strip of Velcro on the front of the tray and then one strap around the middle of the battery for my 6S setup.  The battery is very secure for my style of flying.  Big air loops, rolls and Cuban eights.......etc.  No smacking the machine around.

I don't like using Velcro on my batteries.  I prefer using some kind of non-skid tape.  In this case, I use 2 layers of the 3M microfoam tape only because I had it readily available.  I used a double layer to add a little cushion to LiPo's and isolate them from vibrations.  Carpet tape (Home Depot, Target, Walmart, etc.), Gecko tape, and other non-skid tapes should also work well for this purpose.

if he is like me, because it is a PITA to get loose, and you skin you knuckles at least once a weekend when it finally breaks free and you hand goes careening into the edge of the carbon frame. LOL

Pretty much what Mike Spano wrote above.  Velcro works well for packs that are kept permanently on removable battery trays or for helicopters like the T-Rex 550, Blades 400, 450, 360 and many others where the pack is easy to grab for easy placement and removal.

For helicopters where the packs sit inside the frames (all electric Synergy's, others), I find Velcro a PITA to insert and specially to remove batteries.  I much prefer non-skid tape to Velcro on these helis.
