I feel you on the V's. I lost mine at the end of the season last year. Vic has too many other projects keeping him busy these days.

Thanks, Mike!!!! Can't wait to maiden this Spring!

Glad you were abe to get in the air! Sorry to hear about the crash, though...that sucks about the v-blades.  :( We got lucky and was able to fly into the first week of December here. I'mean hoping I'll be able to maiden in March!

How do you guys like the Rail's?

Rails are awesome. Quiet and efficient, responsive and fast 3d, track well and stay stable at high speeds, and they auto like a beast. Give 'em a shot, I was hooked after my first set.

I've got some V-695's still, and a set of 715 helix, plus several sets of 690's that aren't v's, so I can fly, just not optimal. the 695's versus 715 v's increase energy usage almost 30mah per minute due to the higher disk loading and higher angles of attack  (yes, I'm a nerd and I track things like that, I'm pretty critical of gaining efficiency everywhere I can). I can only  get 10~12  minutes with the current 12s/4350 packs when using the 695's versus 12 to 14 minutes with the 715's. auto's are different also.  The float is a tiny bit less at the bottom, but they do have one benefit,.... You can spool them up much quicker when you screw up aerobatics in the auto and slow them down unintentionally :)  Very very small differences but noticable.

I'm glad you got some blades and can fly, at least!

I'm eager to read your posts, gwright! I like learning this kind of stuff. My skills are growing and I am starting to notice little tendencies in my helis. I think I am going to start experimenting with blades on my Gobby's this next season. In fact, I saw somewhere that you contributed your knowledge of LHS to the AMA mag, unfortunately, I haven't received mine yet. The snow really threw off our mail deliveries! If I don't get it in the next week I'll contact AMA and see if they will help get one to me.

A little birdie told me there will be more about "appropriate power systems" AKA lower headspeed 3D.

Actually it wasn't a little birdie as much as it was the article Chris coerced me into writing for a future edition of the magazine  ;D

That's awesome! I can't wait to read it!

I hear you're the man for the job, though. I've read your posts here and on other forums and you are a wealth of information. I like the way you convey the info as well!

I'm taking the E5SS on a field trip! Today I'm testing batteries. I'm fortunate to have a friend that has a couple of different dimenstions and weight that I can try for fit annd CG.

Well, I found batteries! My buddy had Glacier 7S 5300mAh lipos that fit and CG perfectly! He actually gave them to me...I am very grateful to him for this. I'm a pretty lucky guy! We also set up the ESC. Fast forward to Monday. I didn't have a 10mm swash leveler so I couldn't complete the setup. I ordered one and it will be here tomorrow so I can complete the setup!!!

I'm so close I can taste the maiden, unfortunately we are expecting very cold temps over the next week.....Spring can't get here fast enough.
