E5 stretch boom length

Hi guys,

I'm into my E5 stretch project and will be using 626 mains and 96 tails.
I don't have part numbers for the boom and TT I have, as they came unpackaged.
So am not sure if they're the usual parts as per Matts stretch kit or whether they're a bit long and I need to shorten them.

I know Matt uses the 615-140 boom and 320-501 TT from the E6 for his 626 stretch kit.
I've searched here and other places online, but I can't find lengths for those parts anywhere.

Can someone please help me with the length for the E6 boom, I can work out the TT from there.
btw, the boom I have is 770mm.

The 770mm long boom (part 615-140) is the original E6 boom.

The stock E5 boom is 640mm long.  It accommodates Rail 556/96 blade combination.

When I built the E5s with Rail 606/96 blades, I cut the E6 boom down to 700mm long.  That length worked great and have me about 13mm clearance between the blades.


The actual Synergy E5s 600mm stretch kit comes with even longer 715mm booms.  The Synergy E5s 626mm stretch kit does not state the boom length, but I assume it must be around 740mm or so.

I like for the TT to be 10mm to 11mm shorter than the boom.

Matt's 626 kit uses the 615-140 boom part number so I think it would come 770mm long.
Adding 70mm to the std E5 640mm boom to allow for the longer blades gives us 710mm which may be a little too close but 770 leaves a lot of space between mains and tails.

I could just cut the boom to a length that will fit, but it would be interesting to hear what others have done before I start cutting.

It is my understanding that Matt released the 600 stretch kit with a long 715mm boom to allow flexibility when combining blades, like Rail 606 mains and 106 tail.  If you are planning on using 626mm/96mm blades (with 1:4.5 tail ratio) a 720mm to 725mm boom should work fine.  If using 626mm/106mm blades, then 730mm to 735mm boom should do it.

I did some measuring and decided to cut the boom at 425mm.
That'll give me plenty of clearance for my intended 626/96 blade combo
and will still be able to fit 106 tails if I ever want to try them.

I hope you mean 725mm.

425mm boom? Welcome to my E5 Shrink project, lol.
Its actually 725mm and looking good too.
