e5 holes
« on: April 21, 2016, 06:56:42 AM »
HI. I designed and machined a battery tray system for my e7se,(http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=738555) but now someone wants one for there e5. I have asked them to give me the hole centres for the 4 screws each side that hold the carbon battery plates to the frame, but the dimensions he gives dont seem right, can anyone help (didn't know whether  I could ask for this information but dont know till you ask).
the ones he initially gave me were :
Hole measurements: Rear to front of Tray
1 - 3mm from rear of tray
2 - 90.84mm forward of hole 1
3 - 23.49mm forward of hole 2
4 - 107.79mm forward of hole 3

can anyone confirm these

thankyou

Hi Giles,

sounds like you're asking for the measurement between the aluminium cross members (spreaders) that go between the frame side plates and hold the bottom frame plates in place in the frame.

Measuring from the rearmost mounting hole and going forward, centres are at 0mm, 91mm, 114mm & 222mm.
In case you're interested its 52mm inside measure between the left and right frame plates and the hole centres on the spreaders to attach the frame bottom plates is 30mm.

I recently made a battery tray system for the packs in my E5 when I stretched it and went to 12S.
Will be interested to see what you've come up with. Edit: had a look at the thread on HF, very nice work.

Cheers

Wolf

sorry just read your post. forgot I posted on this forum. thankyou for the response.
I sent the complete E5 battery tray system to a 'Gus', a member on helifreak. He should receive it soon. I expect he will post some photos on the forum.
It just replaces the 4 spreaders and carbon plates with a rail for the battery tray. The tray is held in at the back with spring loaded plunger pin. to release just pull down on plunger pin. No modifications will be needed to the heli, just a straight swap with the original.
