Autorotation hub one way bearing fit
« on: August 17, 2016, 09:23:25 PM »
Hi guys,

I'm about re-assemble an E5 autorotation hub with new OWB and bushes (all genuine parts).

Manual says to red or green locktite the bushes, no problem there.
But the OWB will slide into the hub with thumb pressure only
and its definitely going to spin inside the hub under load.

Should I use red locktite on the OWB to lock it into the hub?
Will that be enough?
Or is there another method/product to use so the OWB will be ok?

cheers

I use Loctite 609 retaining compound on the OWB and bushings. I apply it with a Q-tip and am really careful to not get too much on the surface so it won't end up in the bearing cage.

DO run the sleeve through the brass bushings and OWB before the compound sets up to be sure the brass bushings are fully seated.  Even the slightest misalignment can cause binding.  I have helped more than one person sort out binding of the sleeve for this reason. Also test fit the brass bushings on the sleeve prior to installation. The tolerances can be pretty close.
