Finally started my E5 build and things are going well. I have a question out of curiosity about why the pin for the drive gear has a loose fit the the drive shaft?

It is not in the manual but it is recommended to glue the pin with green loctite.
If you don't, the pin will slowly chew into the gear over time, after hundreds of flights.
You can check the 766 manual on page 8 for more details where to put the loctite.

Agreed, Red Loctite is also acceptable. Do use caution on "wicking" variations of thread locker so not to allow it to get into bearings. Here is a video Sexton put up on YouTube for the 766 build.. in it he shows the proper way to assemble Synergy transmissions.. follow the manual for your model, but this video(same as all of Sexton's videos) will give you some great tips & how to's.

+1 of course for the guys, I have used Gorilla Glue (the silicon ) type , I have used this for years and not had any issues, for me and my thought process, it acts as a dampener almost. Would encourage applying the techniques the guys use first, mine was more like trial basis also ease of removal in the event of maintenance.

The nice thing about this design is you won't ever need to remove the gear once loctite in place. The gear is hard coat so it'll never need replacing and the shaft will never bend...I guess I shouldn't say "never" but I've yet to find one that's bent using a dial indicator. And, if you ever do change out the tail ratio, a new shaft with spur is only $20. Green loctite away!
