damper recommendations
« on: April 17, 2017, 06:28:58 PM »
So I'm taking the head apart from my 766 kit, to grease and loctite everything.  In the manual is suggested softer dampers for lower headspeed, which I will run.  I'm guessing 1650-1700 will be my top head speed.  I currently only have what comes in the kit.  Should I put the softer ones on the outside and use what I have, or should I get another of the softer ones and wait to put things together?  I see they only have 80 and 90 in the store.  Are there some softer ones or are those my only options?

My head speed I am thinking will be from 1100 to 1700.

Those are it.. for low head speeds u could order the soft ones as stated in the manual.. but should be fine with the stock set up as well.. I don't do a lot of low headspeed stuff.. one of the other fellas may chime in with their expiernce.

I've ran from 1300-2100 on the stock dampers. But I did install them backwards from the manual. I put the softer on the outside.

Give it a shot. Worse case you can order two more orange dampers.

That's what I was thinking Chris, but wanted others opinion before I loctite everything down.  Thanks!  8)

I have it installed right to the manual. It works from 1200 to 2050 without any problems. For lower i recommend to go softer.

I run stock (766 blades) per manual, with head-speed 1500-1750 with no problem.

But a friend of mine had 806 blades and had a bad vibration >1700 - he ended up swapping the dampers and that completely fixed the problem.
