516 and 696 comparison
« on: December 21, 2019, 11:20:38 AM »
I have a 516 and cannot stop looking at the 696. I have a parts list and everything in a shopping cart - Just haven't clicked "BUY" yet.

For those who own both, does anyone have a photo comparison of these two models side-by-side? I'd love to see what I'm likely getting into.

Thanks!

The 696 build is a pleasure. The parts count is at an all time low I believe.
It can be mild to wild as far as setup and performance.
I have been playing with a stretched version to 766 for grins.
Cheers

Thanks a bunch, Wolf!

I'm thinking of picking up the kit with an XNova XTS (non-Lightning) and HW130 (or will I need the 200A?) just to hold me over winter. I'll buy the servos and such a little later on...

Looks like I'll also have to find a larger flying field, haha!

The hobbywing 130 will be fine. I run a jive pro 120 on mine.

HW 130 is great, thats what im running in mine. Im running a scorpion 4525-520. You will be fine with that esc, 200 is way overkill.

Ordered the HW130 yesterday! I have the 120 in my 516 and love it. I really like the programmer. Just plug, program and play... And it's a battery checker too. Beats the multimeter for checking cells!

Do you use the HW in airplane mode or another setting?

Thanks.  That must mean you use the HW ESC Gov.  My plan is to use the IKON Gov and the HW RPM output plug.    Please send any notes/URLs/docs that may be helpful for setup.
