CC ESC 120 or 160 HV - I have both
« on: March 26, 2012, 03:10:52 PM »
All,

I have both the 120 and 160 CC ICE2 ESC NIB that I can use on my E7.   Any general opinions as to which one to use?  Originally I had ordered the 160 because the 120 were out of stock and did not expect my ICE1 to be back in time for install.

I may stick with the 160 for the extra amperage.

Thoughts are appreciated
E

Sorry, guess that would have been a good piece of the puzzle.  I am running the Hacker A50-12L 470 KV Motor in my E7

Thanks

I have basically the same question. Building the E7 with a 470kv Hacker. Is the ice HV 120 enough?

Either one of those ESC's will do fine. If you’re going to be doing hard 3D I would go with the 160. I ran the 120 with no problem at 12s with that motor.

+1 for Branden, Alot of the guys are moving from the CC120 to the CC160 just for that extra room so to speak, Bigger is better. The difference in weight is about 2 oz. with a CC160 you have alot of room to grow. But like Branden Said the CC120 does just fine. specially with my flying style. Good Luck in the Builds Guys!! ;)

That is my theory as well, think the extra weight will be offset by the increased margin.  I will stick with my original plan and install the 160 HV.  Thanks.   I am really looking forward to flying this Heli!!

I will probably stick with the 120 until I am ready to build an E6 then switch them around...

I run the ice2 120 in my E7 with a Pyro 700-45L motor (450kv) and with a 15T pinion gov at 2150 I was peaking at over 450 deg according to the flight log..... My average temp was around 130... I am DEFINITELY going to switch to an ice2 160. Should get an average temp of around 80-90 im hoping.  The 120 handles it just fine and I am not able to peak it out, but I just don't think there is enough surface to distribute the heat evenly enough and the 160s heat sink is much larger and should be much more effective...

Just my 2 cents  ;D

With the smaller motors that pull less current I am running the ICE120HV.
With the larger motors such as Scorpion LE 520 and the KDE 700XF I would run the ICE160HV.

Hope that helps,

Matt
