Looks like Matt needs to bring back part number 106-305 Engine 0.5mm Shim!

For me the .5mm would be too much of a shim. I ended up needing a .005" (.127mm shim). Every engine will be different.

.5mm = .0197", That would be a big shim seeing as we are after a gear mesh of .002-.005 roughly.

You are probably correct, I was kind of going on the 4 beer can shims per side discussed on the first or second page.  I am going to try two per side...

Ok, using Rodney's method (one thickness of coke can) here is the mesh, please advise if ok?  It doesn't feel tight anymore, but definitely no backlash...

Nothing wrong with that, if there is less friction and its running free then job done. Personally I do like a little backlash, esp with delrin gears to allow for expansion, quite hot in Cyprus summer and mine has performed flawlesly so far.
