ESC options

I'm pretty sure I will go with the CC Ice 100, but will I need an external BEC if I am just running a 6S setup?  I just wanted to know because I will probably run the Scorpion motor but I haven't heard much chatter about the scorpion escs.  Thanks!

The bec in the castle 100 isn't a great one. That being said, whether you need a bec or not will depend on the servos and flight style.

I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my new Talon 90. Looking forward to trying the new line and with a 20a HV bec built in, should be a great fit!

Never go with CC Ice 100 built in bec with standard servo unless you want it to crash. Not enought power for fast collective when doing 3d. Go cc bec pro, western robotics or direct lifepo 6,6v.

Great, thanks for the info.  I'll also check out the talon but I found the bec pro and read up on it a little so I will go that route.

Yes exact 2s lipo with HV servo. I will run with cc pro plus eneloop 4,8v 800mAh nimh as backup. Best is Kontronik Jive with dual bec wire and nimh but not the same budget.
If you intend to stay 6s, a good esc is Yge 120lv that have 2 wire bec.

Cool, I'll check out the YGE too.  On HF we have some discussion about the Talon 90.  Anyone planning to go that route?

Well, it seems that for a 2200 watts motor like a Scorpion HKIII 4025-1100 you need a leat an ESC capable of 100A continuous with pic management 130/140A !
I found a video with a Talon on a Trex 550 DFC with Align 1220 kv motor running 6S on 2600 HS and it seems to handle with power delivered.

You may also want to go ahead and order PRC6 battery and ESC connectors from Progressive RC or FBL Rotors.  They are the best!

Thanks for the input guys.  But wondering if I will go with those or EC5 connectors.  Found an old article in Heli Pilot (I think) about different connectors and what they are rated at.  I'll read up more on PRC6, but I have read some people are beginning to use them.

The PRC6 connectors are rated for 200+ amps EC5 Connectors are rated for 120A.  The other consideration is the size of the "cup" where you will be soldering your wires.  The battery connector wires on the CC Ice2 HV are 8 AWG.  In addition to the big 8  gauge wire you will also be adding a BEC wire to each connector.  I don't believe the EC5 connector is large enough to accommodate both wires.  The PRC 6 connectors do the job nicely.
