Motor/ESC help for a 6s setup
« on: April 06, 2014, 01:29:48 PM »
I have a E5 kit on the way and really would like to run a 6s setup. Any suggestions on what motor and ESC to go with? I am a novice pilot by today's standards.
Thanks

Hi, and welcome!

For a 6s setup... A popular motor choice is the Scorpion HKIII-4025-1100KV (6mm shaft) and Castle 120 HV for ESC.

There are a number of different choices though.

Cheers,
Mark

The Castle 120HV ESC pairs very well with the KDE 600XF-1100 motor.

Hi there Fran11784, and welcome to the Synergy forum.

The great thing with the E5 is its huge flexibility for power plant configurations, but for a 6s setup... A popular motor/ESC combination choice is the Scorpion HKIII-4025-1100KV (6mm shaft) and Castle 120 HV for ESC.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Ross

I am running the same Scorpion/Castle combo everyone has mentioned and it has been fantastic with over 600 flights so far.   I have flown 4 flights back to back in hot temps and it handles whatever I throw at it.

Holy cow, this Scorpion HKIII-4025-1100KV motor is tough to get. Has anyone ever ordered directly for Scorpion?

If you are stuggling find the motor instock with your local stockists then you can order with scorpion directly, they are ultra quick at shipping and orders usually take 3-4 days depending on your location.

Hope this helps,

I have ordered my last 3 Scorpion motors directly from Scorpion and they come 2 day FedEx for free (that was on a 4525-520 Ultimate and 2 4530-500 LEs).  And I did order them one at a time, not all in one order...

Since I have plenty of battery's, I decided to run 12s. The manual says 630kv. I see a 650 and a 550kv. 550 be good?

The 550 kV is a solid choice. If you haven't already checked put MrMels head speed calculator I would run both through it and see what works best for you. I have ordered directly from Scorpion several times and they ship very quickly.

I have the Savox 5055 550Kv in my E5, running 2550 for IU2, with two Pulse Ultra 2600 45C batteries - love it!

The batts I have are 5200's. a bit overkill for a 550 I guess but it's what I have. I'll check the calculator too..
